Shot peening is a cold working process in which a small steel,
ceramic or glass media propel at a relatively
high speed to hammer the surface of the material. These shot
particles form a series of overlapping pits on
the surface of the material, and compress the upper layer of the
material and help prevent material fatigue failure.
Compared with steel shot, ceramic shot peening will not generate
new ferrous contamination to the treatment surface,
It is able to replace the steel shot where ferrious contamination
is prohibited.
